Pompeii Tour

Famous for being razed to the ground by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, which has buried it under a blanket of ash and lapilli. Pompei is a unique place, which finds similarities only with the neighboring Herculaneum that suffered the same fate.

Few people know that at the time of the eruption of 79 D.c, some buildings were being rebuilt, since they were destroyed by an earthquake in 62 D.c.

The beginning of the excavations to bring to light Pompeii began in 1748, at the behest of King Charles II of Bourbon, also called “Illuminated Monarch”, it is thanks to him that today the world can visit such a unique place, where you can understand how the Roman society lived in that era.

Pompeii is practically a snapshot of the Roman society of 79 AD, visiting this place is like taking a journey through time, Pompeii being a working class city has  differences from the nearby site of Herculaneum, differences in infrastructure, roads and even in homes.

In 2016 Pompeii exceeded 3 million visitors, making it one of the most visited sites in the world, since 1997 the site has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so it is definitely one of the places to visit if you’re coming to Italy.
